about

This was our first official album. Whoa buddy, so many lessons learned in terms of the recording process. Many of these tracks were started, put down, added to, shelved...

This was when we first purchased our recording gear or software and were figuring things out. General Bebo 6 pumped out a bulk of the production on this album using Cubase and a brand new software at the time Reason. Oyani and myself were the sweetening elements. Oyani's vocal style was more harmony based and less lyrics and song structure. We all love the Blue Six releases and other stuff from Naked Music and The Rurals, and wanted to pay homage.

I bought a mini disc recorder and would have it on me all the time, we used this audio alot on the album as well as the recordings from movies we were watching.

This was also the album that birthed our official logo. My student and fellow general Mike Clegern, came up with the design. He later joined the band as our guitarist and gives you some lush jazzy / funk on AG's Upstairs.

We also recruited another General to the mission and linked with "Mr. in the pocket himself" Will Hawkins. His bass sets a lovely groove on AG's Upstairs, which was his first time recording to a house beat. The combination of he and Bebo 6 on drums live will be explored more in the future.

For the post-production, I mixed the album on my Numark CDJ's so that it is one continuous experience. We still wanted to track it out so you could skip to your favorites if you want.
